Music Lessons in Glasgow
Choose the right lesson route without the overwhelm.
One-to-one music lessons for children, teenagers and adults, shaped around subject, age, level, confidence and realistic weekly availability.
Start here
Four ways to choose your lesson route.
Use this hub as a simple route selector. If the starting point is unclear, the dedicated route guide will narrow the decision before you request a trial.
Featured subjects
Start with the most requested lessons.
These four routes are the most common entry points. Each subject page gives the full detail for that instrument or voice route.

More routes
Explore the full active lesson directory.
Use these cards when the subject is already clear. They are grouped as a full active directory without asking the page to repeat every instrument page in detail.
Looking from a specific area?
Use these short routes if location helps. Lessons still take place at GSofM in Kinning Park unless online tuition is arranged.
Learner routes
Choose by learner, not just instrument.
Sometimes the right starting point is not the subject page. Age, confidence and previous experience can matter just as much.
Starting lessons
Trial lesson, tutor match, weekly place.
The practical route is kept deliberately simple: enquire, trial, then continue weekly where the fit and timetable are suitable.
Typical route into lessons
- 01Share the student’s age, subject interest, level, goals and realistic weekly availability.
- 02GSofM reviews tutor fit, lesson length and timetable suitability.
- 03The student attends a paid one-to-one trial lesson.
- 04Where suitable, ongoing lessons continue as a fixed weekly appointment through the Teaching Block calendar.
Headline fees
These standard rates apply from Monday 10 August 2026. Trial lessons use the standard lesson rate. There are no registration fees. Until Sunday 9 August 2026, current published rates continue to apply.
Learning guides
Support the work around weekly lessons.
Use these guides when the question is broader than choosing an instrument: practice, parent support, music theory or exam routes.
Common questions
Quick answers before you choose.
This page keeps the essentials here. Fuller operational detail belongs on the fees, trial lesson, tutor and parent information pages.
What music lessons are available at GSofM?
GSofM offers piano, singing, guitar, drums, violin, cello, flute, saxophone, music theory, composition and online music lessons where suitable.
How should I choose the right lesson route?
Start with the subject if you already know it. If the choice is unclear, use Find Your Lesson Route, or choose children, teen, adult or beginner pathways when age, confidence or learning context matters more than the instrument.
How much do music lessons cost?
From Monday 10 August 2026, standard one-to-one lesson fees are £30.00 for 30 minutes, £39.50 for 45 minutes and £49.50 for 60 minutes. Trial lessons use the standard lesson rate and there are no registration fees.
What happens after a trial lesson?
GSofM reviews tutor fit, level, goals and timetable suitability. Where suitable, ongoing lessons continue as a fixed weekly appointment through the published Teaching Block calendar.
Are graded exams required?
No. Exams are available where useful, but students can also progress through repertoire, technique, confidence, creativity, performance skills and long-term musicianship.
