Clear, VAT-inclusive pricing for one-to-one music lessons in Glasgow. Choose from 30, 45 or 60 minutes, with trial lessons priced at the standard rate for the selected lesson length.

The rates displayed below are the published standard prices for the date on which you are viewing this page. Every listed amount includes VAT.
Focused weekly lesson
From Monday 10 August 2026: £30.00 .
Often suitable for younger beginners, early-stage learners or focused weekly work.
Balanced progress route
From Monday 10 August 2026: £39.50 .
A balanced option for many school-age students needing time for technique, pieces, reading and musical development.
Extended lesson time
From Monday 10 August 2026: £49.50 .
Often suitable for older students, adults, advanced learners, examination-focused work or deeper weekly study.
Current published rates remain in effect until Sunday 9 August 2026. The confirmed new standard rates apply from Monday 10 August 2026. Trial lessons use the applicable standard rate.
Trial lessons use the same standard pricing structure as regular one-to-one lessons, and GSofM does not charge a separate registration fee. After the trial, the school will recommend the most appropriate lesson length and explain the next step clearly.
Which length should I choose?
Start with the learner, not simply the clock.
Age matters, but so do concentration, subject, current level, practice habits, goals and the amount of material the student can usefully cover.
Focused foundation
Often suitable for younger beginners, early-stage learners or students who benefit from a concise and clearly focused weekly lesson.
Balanced development
A strong middle route for many learners, allowing time for technique, reading, repertoire, listening and review without rushing.
Extended study
Useful for older students, adults, advanced repertoire, examination preparation, theory integration or broader musical work.
Regular lesson payments
Weekly places follow the published Teaching Block calendar.
Regular tuition follows the published Teaching Block fee schedule. Fees, or an approved written arrangement, are put in place before the relevant Teaching Block begins.
Invoice issued
The invoice reflects the lessons scheduled on the student’s regular weekly lesson day within the relevant Teaching Block.
Fee deadline
Fees are arranged by the published due date unless GSofM has approved a written payment arrangement in advance.
Weekly place continues
When fees or an approved arrangement are in place, the student’s reserved weekly lesson time continues into the Teaching Block.
If the account remains outstanding
If fees and an approved written arrangement are not in place, lessons are put on hold from the first teaching day of the relevant Teaching Block until the account is brought up to date.
Two instalments can be arranged in advance of the payment deadline. The arrangement requires written school approval and carries a £10 administration fee.
The person responsible for the student’s invoices may authorise future collections through the secure GSofM GoCardless form. Creating the mandate does not automatically settle an invoice already issued unless GSofM confirms that the invoice will be collected by Direct Debit.
Flexible lesson arrangements
Fortnightly lessons can be arranged by written agreement.
Weekly tuition is the standard GSofM route. Fortnightly or alternate-week arrangements may be considered by written agreement where they work well for the student, subject and available timetable.
Where a fortnightly arrangement is approved, the price is the standard lesson fee plus 20%.

Are the published lesson prices VAT-inclusive?
Yes. Every standard and fortnightly lesson price displayed on this page includes VAT.
Does GSofM charge a registration fee?
No. There is no separate registration fee. New students begin with the agreed trial lesson at the published rate; any ongoing arrangement is confirmed separately after the trial.
Are trial lessons complimentary?
No. Trial lessons are priced at the standard rate for the selected lesson length.
Which lesson length should we choose?
Thirty minutes can suit younger or early-stage learners, forty-five minutes offers a balanced route for many students, and sixty minutes supports extended or more advanced work. GSofM will recommend the most suitable starting length after reviewing the request or trial.
Can lesson fees be paid in instalments?

What happens if an account remains outstanding after the deadline?
If fees have not been received and no approved written arrangement is in place, the lesson place is put on hold from the first teaching day of the relevant Teaching Block until the account is brought up to date.
How do I set up Direct Debit?
The person responsible for paying the student’s invoices should complete the secure GSofM GoCardless form. Once authorised, the mandate may be used for future payments due to The Glasgow School of Music.
Does setting up Direct Debit pay an invoice already issued?
No. Creating the mandate does not automatically settle an existing invoice. Unless GSofM confirms that it will be collected by Direct Debit, the invoice should be paid using its stated payment instructions by the due date.
Can students attend fortnightly rather than weekly?
Weekly tuition is standard. Fortnightly or alternate-week lessons may be agreed in writing where appropriate and are priced at the standard rate plus 20%.
