GSofM reviews the student’s age, experience, confidence, goals, subject and realistic weekly availability before recommending the most suitable available tutor route.
Do tutors teach complete beginners?
Yes. The team supports complete beginners, returning learners and developing musicians across children, teenagers and adults where a suitable route is available.
Can tutors support graded examinations?
Yes. Examination preparation can be included where it suits the student, although graded examinations are not compulsory.
Are GSofM tutors PVG checked?
Relevant tutor roles are handled through appropriate PVG and Disclosure Scotland procedures alongside recruitment, safeguarding processes, professional boundaries and school communication routes.
What happens after a suitable trial lesson?
Where an ongoing place is available, GSofM confirms the tutor, lesson length, fixed weekly time and the relevant Teaching Block arrangements.
How do I request a trial lesson?
