What makes a strong GSofM tutor
Strong musicianship matters, but recruitment also depends on teaching clarity, reliability, safeguarding awareness and the ability to work within the school’s systems.

Applicants should communicate clearly, arrive prepared, respect school systems and represent GSofM professionally.
Student-focused instruction
We look for tutors who can support confidence, technique, musical understanding, progression and long-term learning.
Clear, consistent and accountable
Families need reliable communication through the school’s systems, especially around attendance, progress and safeguarding-sensitive matters.
Teaching areas
Applications may be considered across active GSofM lesson routes.
Submitting an application does not mean that a vacancy currently exists. Suitable applicants may be considered where subject demand, availability, teaching standard and professional fit are strong.
Core demand areas: piano, singing and music theory are often especially relevant, but applications across active GSofM routes may also be considered where quality and availability match school needs.
