Trial lessons are paid lessons. The trial uses the same standard price as the agreed 30, 45 or 60-minute lesson. GSofM does not charge a separate registration fee.

Choosing a Lesson Length

Choose for the learner, not simply the clock.

Age matters, but so do concentration, subject, current level, goals, repertoire and the amount of material the learner can usefully cover.

Trial Lesson Pricing

Your first lesson uses the standard lesson rate.

The trial is a genuine one-to-one teaching session. It helps establish the learner’s starting point, aims, tutor fit and appropriate lesson length before any ongoing weekly arrangement is confirmed.

Regular Lesson Payments

Weekly tuition follows the Teaching Block structure.

Regular lesson fees cover the lessons scheduled within each Teaching Block. Use the Parent Information Centre for dates and the Terms & Conditions for payment and lesson rules.

Direct Debit

Authorise future collections securely

The person responsible for the student’s invoices may authorise future collections through the secure GSofM GoCardless mandate.

Set Up Direct Debit
Existing invoice: creating a Direct Debit mandate does not automatically settle an invoice that has already been issued. Unless GSofM confirms that the invoice will be collected by Direct Debit, follow the payment instructions shown on the invoice by its stated due date.

Fortnightly Lessons

Fortnightly lessons may be available by written agreement.

Weekly tuition is the standard GSofM arrangement. Fortnightly or alternate-week tuition applies only where the school approves it in writing and timetable capacity allows.

Where approved, the fortnightly lesson price is the standard lesson fee plus 20%.

Are the published lesson prices VAT-inclusive?
Yes. Every standard and fortnightly lesson price displayed on this page includes VAT.
Does GSofM charge a registration fee?
No. There is no separate registration fee. A new student begins with the agreed trial lesson at the published standard rate, and any ongoing arrangement is confirmed separately.
Is the trial lesson free?
No. Trial lessons are paid and use the published standard rate for the selected lesson length.
Which lesson length should we choose?
Thirty minutes can suit younger or early-stage learners, forty-five minutes offers a balanced lesson for many students, and sixty minutes supports extended or more advanced work. GSofM can recommend an appropriate starting length through the trial process.
Can lesson fees be paid in two instalments?
A two-instalment arrangement may be requested before the payment deadline, is subject to written school approval and carries a £10.00 Instalment Arrangement Administration Fee. Full contractual detail remains in the Terms & Conditions.
Can students attend fortnightly rather than weekly?
Weekly tuition is standard. Fortnightly or alternate-week lessons may be approved in writing where appropriate and are priced at the standard lesson fee plus 20%.
