GSofM's singing faculty combines specialist vocal teaching, performance experience, classical voice, musical theatre and wider musicianship. Tutor matching is shaped around the student's voice, age, experience, confidence, preferred repertoire, goals and learning needs.
A tutor preference is welcome. Final placement also considers suitability and regular weekly availability, so the recommended route supports both the student and the teaching relationship over time.

Lesson lengths & fees
Singing lesson lengths and fees.
Lesson length is recommended around age, confidence, concentration and goals. Trial lessons use the published standard rate for the selected lesson length, there is no registration fee, and ongoing tuition follows the published Teaching Block calendar.
GSofM tuition combines specialist one-to-one teaching with school-led tutor matching, dedicated teaching rooms, central administration and a structured route for continued development. The fee reflects the wider managed teaching environment as well as the lesson itself.

How singing lessons usually begin.
A paid singing trial is a genuine first lesson and an initial teaching assessment—not a sales consultation. The student begins singing, experiences the teaching approach and receives a clear recommendation for the next step.
Before requesting a singing trial
Trial lessons are charged at the published standard rate for the selected lesson length and there is no registration fee. Tutor preferences are welcome and considered alongside the learner’s needs and timetable. Any ongoing weekly arrangement is agreed separately after the trial. Can complete beginners start singing?

Yes. Suitable students can work on audition material, musical theatre, interpretation, performance confidence and graded exams. Exams are optional rather than compulsory.

Can singing lessons diagnose or treat a voice condition?
No. GSofM provides music education, not medical diagnosis or voice therapy. Students with pain, persistent hoarseness or a medical concern should seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional.
How much are singing lessons?
Singing lessons use the published standard rate for the selected 30, 45 or 60-minute lesson length. Live rates appear in the fee panel and on the Lesson Lengths & Fees page. Trial lessons use the standard lesson rate, there is no registration fee, and ongoing tuition follows the published Teaching Block calendar.
How is a singing trial arranged?
Tell us about the learner, their singing experience, confidence, preferred styles, goals and the times that could support a regular weekly lesson. GSofM reviews the request before confirming the most suitable available trial option. The trial is a paid one-to-one singing lesson and an initial teaching assessment.
How does singing tutor matching work?
You may note a tutor preference. GSofM considers the student’s age, experience, goals, preferred styles, learning needs and timetable before recommending the most appropriate available tutor route.
What happens after the singing trial?
After the lesson, GSofM explains the recommended next step. Any ongoing weekly arrangement is agreed separately, including the tutor, lesson length, regular time and relevant Teaching Block.
