Lesson lengths & fees
Trial lessons and ongoing one-to-one exam preparation use the centrally maintained published standard lesson rates. There is no registration fee. Lesson length is reviewed against age, level, concentration, goals and tutor recommendation.

Does my child need Grade 5 theory?
Before booking ABRSM Practical or Performance Grades 6, 7 or 8, candidates need an accepted Grade 5-or-above prerequisite. ABRSM’s own qualifying routes include Grade 5 or above in Music Theory or Practical Musicianship, or Grade 5 Jazz Practical, and ABRSM also accepts specified alternative qualifications. Trinity currently states that candidates at Grades 6–8 do not need a Theory of Music qualification to enter. Families should always check the current official board guidance before booking.
How do I know if my child is ready for a music exam?
Readiness depends on more than playing the pieces. A tutor will consider technique, consistency, reading, listening, practice habits, confidence, theory needs and whether the exam will support the student’s wider progress.
