A GSofM trial gives children, teenagers and adults the opportunity to begin with a specialist tutor chosen around the learner’s needs. Paid trial lessons are available for one-to-one instrumental, vocal, composition and music theory tuition, in person or online, subject to availability. A genuine first lesson
A real lesson, followed by a thoughtful recommendation.
The trial is a genuine teaching session: a chance to begin, experience the school and explore the most appropriate route forward.
The tutor can consider confidence, current level, musical interests and learning needs while the student experiences the school and the lesson itself. Afterwards, GSofM recommends the lesson length, learning route and next step that best support the learner.
No registration fee. The trial itself is paid at the published standard lesson rate.

After reviewing the learner and your availability, GSofM responds within two working days with the most suitable available trial option.
Tell us about the learner
Include age, confidence, preferred subject, previous experience, musical goals and the days or times that could support a consistent weekly lesson.
We review and respond
We consider tutor fit, level, goals and availability, then respond within two working days with the proposed tutor, lesson time, format and trial fee.
Attend the lesson and receive guidance
The paid trial is a genuine teaching session. Afterwards, GSofM explains the recommended lesson length, learning route and next step.

The first lesson uses the published standard rate.
The applicable lesson length and fee are confirmed before the trial is arranged.
Current rates are published clearly alongside any confirmed forthcoming change. There is no separate registration fee.

How is the trial appointment arranged?
GSofM reviews the learner’s needs and availability and responds within two working days with the most suitable available tutor, lesson time, format and fee. These details are provided before the appointment is booked.
Is the trial lesson complimentary?
No. It is a paid one-to-one first lesson charged at the published standard lesson rate.
Is there a registration fee?
No. GSofM does not charge a registration fee.
What happens after the trial?
After the lesson, GSofM explains the recommended next step. If ongoing tuition is the right route, the school will discuss the tutor, lesson length, weekly time and Teaching Block arrangements with you.
Can adults request a trial?
Yes. Adults, returning learners and complete beginners can request a trial and explain their goals in the form.
