Begin with a paid trial lesson at The Glasgow School of Music. The trial helps us understand the student, recommend the right lesson length, and identify a suitable route into ongoing tuition.
Trial lessons are available for piano, singing, guitar, drums, violin, cello, saxophone, flute, music theory and composition, subject to tutor availability.

Trial lessons are paid lessons. Prices include VAT and reflect the same professional teaching standard as ongoing tuition.
30 minutes
Best for younger beginners, first-time students, or those looking for a short introduction to the school.
45 minutes
A strong option for most students, allowing time for technique, discussion and a clearer assessment of next steps.
60 minutes
Ideal for advanced students, adults, exam preparation, or those wanting a more detailed first session.

We introduce the instrument carefully, assess confidence and coordination, and advise on the most suitable lesson length.
For returning students
We look at previous experience, current level, musical goals and how best to restart structured learning.
