Ruth Hoare

Vocal
BMus (Hons); DipABRSM

Ruth Hoare is a classically trained soprano, originally from North Wales. She began her training at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music, aged 10, and moved to Glasgow in 2016 to study for a Bachelor of Music in Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS), under the tutelage of Wilma MacDougall. She also holds an ABRSM Diploma in Vocal Teaching and has been teaching singing and music theory for several years.

Ruth currently sings with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus, having been selected for their Young Singers’ Programme in both 2018/19 and 2019/20. In 2019, she made her Radio 3 debut in Macmillan’s ‘Seven Last Words from the Cross’ and has been involved in the First Night of the Proms - as well as singing in multiple Proms concerts over the last eight years. In 2012, Ruth was awarded first prize in the Rotary International of Great Britain Young Musician of the Year competition.

Ruth’s love of music has been greatly enriched by the experience of being part of the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain (NYCGB) since the age of 11 and she is passionate about the benefits of providing high-quality singing opportunities for young people, whatever their ability or background. Prior to moving to Scotland, Ruth spent a year working as a secondary school music assistant and most recently has been involved in Early Years Music.
